One of the axleguards had failed after giving many years of service.  I replaced all 4 at a steamup at Tony Dixon's in Livermore, CA.  The engine behind mine was built by Jon Bloom of Orinda, CA.  Double heading these engines is pretty easy - they only go one direction and at one speed!
When I refurbished this loco, I stripped the majority of the boxcar red paint from it and weathered it with a variety of washes and real dirt.  The new look (seen on the first page) is what I was after all along.  It took me only 8 years to get there...
